About Angela

Hello there, and thank you for stopping by. My name is Angela Robb, and I’m a writer of children’s books that I hope you will find are packed with humour, adventure, and heart. I began writing in my late teens, concentrating on short stories – but I was studying for a degree in zoology at Glasgow University at the time, so the writerly ambitions had to wait. After graduating, I went on to do a master’s degree in screenwriting at Screen Academy Scotland in Edinburgh, before working in financial services for a bit (how’d that happen?) and in a couple of editorial roles within the publishing industry (okay, that makes more sense).

I began publishing short stories for adults, all the while working on my debut children’s novel, Hamster Gangster, on the strength of which I was shortlisted in the Scottish Book Trust’s New Writers Awards 2016 in the children’s and young adult fiction category.

I’m originally from Dumbarton, west of Glasgow, and for most of my life have lived in a village closer to Scotland’s middle – not quite in Glasgow, not quite in Stirling, but very real and right there in tiny print on the map. My favourite things include books, movies, music, museums, animals, aeroplanes, dinosaurs, frothy coffee and videos of talking birds. I love exploring Scotland’s landscapes, and still spend plenty of time in Glasgow and Edinburgh, soaking up ideas for settings and stories.
